WhatsApp recently introduced WhatsApp Calling, a feature by which you will be able to make free calls to your whatsApp friends. However this feature is in testing mode and available for only few users right now.

Some spammers and hackers used this news as their weapon and started sending spam message to whatsApp users. The spam message looks like the screenshot below -

Once you click on the link given in the spam message you will be redirected to a website where they will prompt you to send request to 10 friends of yours.

After sending request when you will click on the Continue button there will be a web page full of advertisements and download links. Congrats!  you have become the victim of a spamming trap.

What you lose and what spammers get?

Spammer got money for this trap by showing paid advertisement and by forcing you to download some apps. It may also download some malware apps in your mobile that can track your personal information.

What should you do if you get this type of messages?

You should try to ignore this type of message. Don't get excited to catch latest feature of whatsApp very soon, wait until whatsApp launches this feature officially. And don't forget to send link of this blog post to your friend so that he/she also gets aware about this spam.
